SBA has engaged in site-specific, community conscious residential architecture, 20 years on now and counting.  Our projects range from single family new builds and remodels to multi-family and mixed-use developments, including interior and landscape design.  The firm approaches each project with a focus on a client’s desires and explores how these may manifest into a signature proposal on a particular site. While every project has unique opportunities and constraints, the team always employs elegant, practical, and robust building techniques as a first principle.

Scott Becker AIA

Principal Architect

Scott Becker began his residential design practice after an immersion in the unique Northwest ethos of the Modern Movement, including a fellowship at the Oslo School of Architecture, while completing an M.Arch at the University of Washington.  The influence of the Pritzker Prize winner Sverre Fehn and the agrarian/nautical-informed Norwegian building design tradition, inspired Scott’s academic work as well as his internships in the Seattle area with proteges of Omer Mithun and El Baylis.  His early design assignments provided opportunities to work with the eminent wood craft and metal arts practitioners of the region and the resulting spirit of shaping space with material and light has never left him.  Scott is captivated by impactful architecture throughout the world and welcomes these influences to propose innovative homes and communities.  His designs continue to be recognized through print and digital publication, and awards for design excellence.
